VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Port to consult with Mooring Holders

Milford Haven Port Authority (MHPA) is to consult with its mooring holders, regarding future charges.

As a popular leisure environment, the Haven hosts around 1200 moorings, with licenses being amongst the lowest in the Country. As well as MHPA employing very modest charges, the Haven remains one of the few locations in the UK where the Crown Estate does not impose a charge for the moorings in connection to the seabed.

The Crown Estate now plans to collect revenue from moorings on the Haven, in line with its policies for similar locations around the UK. As this additional cost will be gathered through MHPA, it has become necessary for the Authority to re-assess its existing  charging structure.

Prior to making any firm decision, MHPA will undertake this consultation as a means of engaging with mooring holders to understand their views.

Harbourmaster Mark Andrews commented ‘Leisure usage within the Milford Haven Waterway represents good value and charges have seen minimal increases in recent years. We are keen to get an understanding of what mooring holders require and how best to achieve this'.

Mooring holders will be contacted by MHPA during April, when an independent research company will be gathering survey information, prior to a series of consultative sessions.
